Under Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak's Patronage, Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood Honors Winners of its 2025 Summer Reading Challenge
Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, "Mother of the Nation," Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood today honored the winners of its 2025 Summer Reading Challenge following the launch of the Sidrat Al Ma'rifa (Tree of Knowledge) program.
Speaking at the ceremony, which was held at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library in Dubai, Saeed Al Ameri, Head of the Childhood Department at the Council, said the program reflects the Council's commitment to fostering a culture of reading among children and strengthening their national identity. He emphasized that reading is the foundation of human development and that nurturing a generation of readers is a genuine investment in the nation's future.
Al Ameri noted that launching the program from the Mohammed bin Rashid Library was particularly significant given its role as a leading cultural institution dedicated to knowledge and reading.
The event also marked the official launch of the Sidrat Al Ma'rifa competitions and included the presentation of awards to the winners of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood's 2025 Summer Reading Challenge. The ceremony was attended by Sheikha Rawda bint Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the UAE Children's Parliament; Al Reem bint Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood; and Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation.
Several of the winning children expressed their delight at participating in the program and receiving recognition. Alya Khamis Al Kindi said her success came after reading and summarizing numerous stories and successfully completing the interview stage. Aisha Ahmed Al Shamsi said the competition was challenging but inspired her to continue reading and pursue her ambition of becoming a successful Emirati who represents the UAE with distinction. Issa Abdullah Al Mazmi, winner of the Arab Reading Challenge and fifth place nationally, said initiatives like these encourage children to embrace the Arabic language and develop a passion for reading. He added that he has read more than 150 books, and that participating in the Council's reading challenges has greatly enriched his knowledge through books and inspiring experiences.
