Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, affirmed that the support of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, has enabled Emirati women to participate successfully in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, industry, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. This support has also provided programs that strengthen women’s presence in technical leadership positions and expanded their participation in advanced specialized fields such as the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and space, where women have become key leadership partners. These sectors represent major drivers of the national economy.

This came in a speech delivered by Dr. Al Shamsi at the 36th Global Summit of Women, which opened in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, under the theme “Women: Building Bridges to a Stronger Tomorrow.” In her address, she reviewed the efforts of H.H. “Mother of the Nation” in advancing women’s economic thinking, noting that science, technological advancement, investment in opportunities, and the sustainable management of resources are among the factors that H.H. prioritizes through executive plans and pioneering initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s economic standing.

Initiatives

Dr. Maitha Al Shamsi explained that the vision of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak encompasses all initiatives, including humanitarian initiatives, which feature sustainable development programs that enable women to develop their skills and economic expertise, making them partners in development and sustainability and empowering them to strengthen their economic and social status.

She highlighted examples of these programs designed to enhance women’s economic participation, both within the United Arab Emirates and through the humanitarian efforts led by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation.”

This year, the summit focused on expanding economic opportunities for women, strengthening cross-border business alliances, and advancing women’s leadership in technology, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce.

The summit brought together government representatives, representatives of organizations and companies, entrepreneurs, and governmental and non-governmental organizations, alongside the participation of more than 600 figures from 45 countries.
