Flowers of Hope

The “Flowers of Hope” program is a comprehensive training initiative aimed at preparing refugee girls in Mauritania to serve as community health agents. The program is generously supported by the Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Fund for Refugee Women, in cooperation with the Mauritanian Ministry of Health and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. It is organized by the National Association for the Advancement of Women, Child Protection and the Environment, and extends over six months, combining theoretical instruction with practical training in national hospitals under the supervision of Ministry of Health experts.

The “Flowers of Hope” program represents a pioneering model for empowering refugee women. It is expected to strengthen the skills of female health workers and improve healthcare services in vulnerable communities by graduating a cohort of professionally qualified midwives and health assistants. This project forms part of the ongoing efforts of the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Fund for Refugee Women to support humanitarian and development initiatives across the African continent, in partnership with local and international stakeholders.
