Zayed Humanitarian Day
H.H Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak
In a speech in memory of the founder of the state, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who passed away on this day, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, said that UAE citizens are not only commemorating the anniversary of Sheikh Zayed's passing, but also celebrating it all year long because his approach still exists as a model of humanitarian tenderness that transcends borders.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak stressed that humanitarian work is an inherent heritage of the UAE's humanity since the establishment of the state, that humanitarian efforts will continue and are not limited to allocating the highest percentage of its national income. She pointed out that these contributions come at a time of greatest need, as the world is witnessing many political situations and natural disasters that have led to destabilisation of security in many countries, increasing the rate of migration and the number of refugees, which require active contributions for those peoples affected.
Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak added, "We celebrate an exceptional leader, whose profound memory is enshrined within every Emirati and even in the Arab and international conscience. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who departed on the19th of Ramadan in the Islamic year 1425 (2nd November, 2004), made history with his wisdom and leadership, and left his deep mark throughout the country, promoting it towards prosperity and renaissance."
At the end of her speech, Sheikha Fatima reiterated that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, have followed the same approach.
The UAE, Her Highness concluded, has set a clear example of humanitarian action at a global level, assuming a high position in this field as established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose approach provided hope and assistance to peoples and nations.
