Sheikha Fatima: Cabinet resolutions related to women came at the right time

H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), has emphasised that the women-related resolutions issued in the Cabinet meeting presided over by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, in its extraordinary session at the GWU, came at the right time.

Commenting on the Cabinet resolutions on women she said, "We have received the resolutions with great satisfaction in which the Cabinet approved a package of policies and legislations related to women." The extraordinary session of the cabinet and the resolutions reflect the attention given by the wise leadership of the country to women welfare and follow the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who always supported women's participation in the development process, she added.

She noted, "We take into consideration such national resolutions and initiatives for the benefit of women as they translate the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Supreme Council Members, Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates, to complement the vital and effective role played by women in development of the country."

Referring to the remarks of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, in which he said,"H.H. Sheikh Fatima bint Mubarak is the inspiring model for all women in the UAE. She is following the path of Sheikh Zayed and is always keen to promote the role of women and their effective participation in building the country. She has been inspired by the founding father, who has made women an influential partner and a critical component of development'', Sheikha Fatima said that these remarks are welcomed and encouraged Emirati women to work hard and remain dedicated to achieve the aspirations of the wise leadership.

She added, "We thank His Highness Sheikh Mohammed as he appreciates the role played by Emirati women and their great efforts to building the family, society and homeland and proving their capabilities to assume the highest posts in the country and other sectors."

Her Highness also expressed happiness for the leadership role of Emirati women in the UAE, where the post of Speaker of the Federal National Council is held by a woman in addition to eight seats in the council, they have 29 percent ministerial representation, 17 percent in the government administration and 20 percent in the diplomatic and consular corps at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as 70 percent of university students.'' She also pointed to the Cabinet's emphasis on increasing the participation of women in all fields and raising their participation in diplomatic corps, and the country's missions to international organisations and increasing their participation in judicial work.

"We congratulate UAE women on having this wise leadership which works for their interest and support them to have their right along with men," she concluded.
